Do You Qualify for ClearCorrect?
Before undergoing treatment, our dentist will determine if ClearCorrect aligner therapy is best for you. You’ll be evaluated with the following factors in mind:
- Orthodontic Issues: ClearCorrect is used to address mild to moderate orthodontic issues, such as crooked teeth, gaps, and minor bite problems. Severe cases may require alternative treatments like traditional braces or surgery.
- Age: ClearCorrect is suitable for both teenagers and adults. Children with developing teeth may not be candidates.
- Compliance: You must be willing and able to commit to wearing the aligners as prescribed, typically 20 to 22 hours a day. Consistent wear is essential for successful treatment.
- Oral Health: Good oral hygiene is crucial during ClearCorrect treatment. You should have healthy teeth and gums, as aligners can trap bacteria and plaque against your teeth.
- Dentition: ClearCorrect can work for most individuals, but the specific structure of your teeth and jaw will determine your eligibility. This is assessed during the consultation and through the 3D digital model of your teeth.
- Expectations: Realistic expectations are important. ClearCorrect can achieve significant improvements, but you should understand that the treatment may not be suitable for all aesthetic or functional goals.
- Commitment to Follow-Up Visits: Regular check-ups with our Seattle dentists are necessary to monitor progress and make adjustments.
- Lifestyle: Clear aligners are removable, but they should be worn consistently. If you have a lifestyle or job that makes it difficult to keep the aligners in for most of the day, you may need to discuss this with your provider.
The ClearCorrect Process
Initial Consultation
The first step in getting started with clear aligner therapy is to schedule a consultation with our Downtown Seattle dentist. During your consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your specific dental issues and what you hope to achieve through treatment. Dr. Johnson will conduct a thorough examination of your oral health, which may include taking X-rays and digital scans of your teeth.
Based on the examination and discussion, our provider will assess whether ClearCorrect aligners are a suitable treatment option for your case. This appointment lasts around 2 to 3 hours.
Treatment Planning
Once it’s determined that ClearCorrect is right for you, we’ll create a 3D model of your teeth, by taking digital impressions using a specialized scanner. These images are used to plan your treatment. Dr. Johnson will create a unique plan tailored to your oral health needs. It will include a step-by-step progression of how your teeth will move to their desired positions.
Clear Aligner Fabrication
Your aligners will be custom-created per your treatment plan. Each set of aligners is made to exert controlled pressure on specific teeth, gradually moving them into their intended positions. The aligners are made from clear, BPA-free plastic that’s safe and comfortable to wear. They’re designed to be nearly invisible when worn. It will take between 2 and 4 weeks to create your clear aligners.
Wearing the Aligners
You’ll be instructed to wear the aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day, removing them only for eating, drinking, and performing oral hygiene routines. Every 1 to 2 weeks, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners as per your treatment plan. Each set gradually advances the alignment of your teeth. Make sure to follow the correct sequence of aligners to ensure your teeth are moving correctly. Avoid consuming staining foods and beverages while wearing your aligners, as they can discolor the plastic.
Regular Dental Appointments
Every 6 to 8 weeks, you’ll want to visit our ClearCorrect provider to ensure your treatment is going as planned. We’ll be able to monitor your treatment and make any necessary adjustments. These visits also allow us to address any concerns or discomfort you’re experiencing.
Depending on your case, your aligner treatment will last between 12 to 18 months.
